[LinuxUsers] community events participation

Since it seems that we are "formalizing" socallinux.org, wouldn't it be nice
if we actually engaged more in related community events? It is not uncommon
to see local linux chapters in Web 2.0, Where 2.0, OSCON, SCALE and the
like.

Since SCALE is happening soon, why not present something? I remember
noticing a presentation from Chris and David about socal linux groups.

Personally, I submitted a presentation proposal to SCALE as part of the
volunteer work I do for local OSGeo chapter (http://www.osgeo.org), but I
may have submitted it too late (the very last day at midnight). The title
was "How to Build your own Google Maps using Free Data and an Open Source
stack". If they accept it, I'll gladly make it also "socallinux.org"
presentation - whatever that means :)

Anyway, did any other members submit a proposal for SCALE or any other Open
Source conferences (or plan to do it in an unconference)?
