[LinuxUsers] Ubuntu user troubles

Maybe I'm insane, or doing something all wrong, but I am having twenty
kinds of problems making a new user on Ubuntu 9.10.

I add the user in the GUI, then click "switch user" and try to login,
and the password won't work.

I think the problem may have something to do with me using dvorak, but
I'm not sure how. I am absolutely sure that the passwords matched.

I even tried changing the password with passwd, to no effect.

If anyone knows what I did wrong, it would be great to have some help.
