[LinuxUsers] Photoshop alternative

I agree with Chris, Gimp is the best alternative to photoshop, and
you can run it on several platforms. I actually prefer Gimp over
photoshop. There is no real alternative to Illustrator yet, however
inkscape is the closest FOSS choice. There are some alternative
vector graphics apps that cost money, but i have never tried them.

A second option is running Photoshop and illustrator in wine or
CrossOver Linux (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxlinux/). I
have setup photoshop and Illustrator successfully with wine and
crossover in the past. CrossOver is a bit easier to use. The
downside of using wine or CrossOver is that the newest versions of
windows apps will sometimes not work depending how long the community
has had to work the bugs out.

I am wondering if anyone on the list has experience with any Open Source apps that would do the same thing as Photoshop basically. My question is: Which apps are the most powerful, which are best designed for web app, and which are most similar to Photoshop?
