Options that occur to me:

1. See if Jeff responds (nobaloney.net).

2. Outsource/sub/refer the sysadmin part to one of us on the list.

3. Given you said the sites are low-bandwidth, don't worry about them being on
   same VPS; utilize any quality shared host.  In my experience,
   tigertech.net is competent and prompt.
