That's what I do... just with an AT&T Uverse account ($35/month) and
Tivo Lifetime service  + Netflix. Outdoor antenna to get OTA hi-def
and standard-def digital broadcasts.

Plenty of TV, way more than we need. I just (effectively) pay Tivo to
manage my Linux-based settop box. It has worked out great so far.
