If I was dban the first thing I would do to make sure recovery is
impossible/hard would be to destroy the mbr and then happily chew
through the data areas of the hard drive itself...

Either way you now have definite call to wack with the clue stick...

Though it does make you wonder, how funny was the pron on the second
hard drive that he was willing to take this chance even though you did
warn him.
