[LinuxUsers] Mac Question

So I have these xml files that we are exporting from mediawiki.  Im
capturing the XML using linux.  I
download the xml via curl then import into our database via python. I
can see the XML fine unless I use some funny program, but
The XML has the funky characters in it when opened in MAC.

Has anyone had similar issues with MAC.  Is there any recommended xml
software for MAC?
