Hrm...there should be.  I just got on PayPal the other day on a really 
old XP box (way older than your Mandriva install) and didn't have any 
problems, and if I remember right, it was a really old version of PayPal.

To be clear, this is the Verisign cert you're needing to update?  Which 
root cert is it?
