First of all, the icon says it's not managed. Second of all, when I open
System/Preference/Network config the little window is empty; no network
listed. Until now I haven't risked adding one with the proper
settings, because the proper settings ARE working.
However I just tried.
I created an entry, set it for dhcp (the default), saved it. And
rebooted the entire system.
Well, now the entry is there, but the Network is ignoring it; it's still
not manageable.
I'm giving up on the install. I'm trying an install from a different
magazine; one where I know the editor. I'll write again later.
