We haven't hosted on MSWindows in some time. We offer dedicated servers with
either CentOS Linux or RedHat Enterprise Linux. If you want the latter we
charge $20 more a month. Profit <smile>.
We offer server management on both, and we prefer to use exclusively YUM for
updating, as we've never liked the complexity of the Red Hat update.
For our webhosting stack we generally build from source using a script written
by someone who works for us; it gives us more version-flexibility.
And for what it's worth, that $15/month fee from Red Hat doesn't include any
support; it's strictly a fee for us to be able to tell people we use Red Hat
(when i last spoke with a Rep [a long time ago]) he said he didn't even care
if I used the CentOS ISO, as long as I paid for the right to call it Red Hat.
While I doubt that's official company policy (and it's not what I do), it's an
interesting.
Happy Holidays!
