If you are asked this sort of question, I find it best to just say
something like, "Tell me more about what they're wanting." And when
they don't give you anything else, say that it should not be a problem
and that you look forward to talking to the customer directly.
Just end the bogus discourse and focus on the next step required to
get the business. If they're serious, then they'll hook you up. If
they're not, you've cut your losses quickly.
