I would think you want to have the gmail account as the primary and
then retrieve your LSU email via pop/imap or have the LSU email
redirect to the gmail account by that server. Using gmails send as
you can then send email as either address.
As i understand it if you create a google account with an email
address that you are not the admin it will prompt you to supply
another or use an actual gmail account.
