[LinuxUsers] mounting external HD in knoppix 4.0

Roger, you probably know this:

How do I mount an external hard drive, and save files to it while I am using knoppix
as a live cd. without overwriting any files already on the external hard drive?

or if I use the windows xp install disk recovery console, will I be able to copy the file
without overwriting any files on the external HD?
What command would I use?  xcopy?

If it can be done Roger, I know you can do it. And or Dante, and probably several others.
