[LinuxUsers] issue 7 NX Client

I'm not real clear about how packages are installed when not using the
advanced package manager, or the synaptic package manager.

So, what is the criteria for where you install a deb package?

For instance: In which folder would you install the Nx client deb package?
And better yet ....why? What folder do I put the launcher in?

Another question I have about nx client: can you install nx client, and
nx server on the same box? Would there be any conflict?

Also, I am wondering the same thing about open office 3.0
I want to install open office on my ubuntu feisty, but I don't know
what folder to put it in, or what folder to put the launcher in.

(I know feisty is outdated, but every time I tried to update to 7.10,
my old inspirion 8100 would freeze up at the point where the cups
daemon started loading. I tried it over a half dozen times, and the same
thing happened. I suspect that maybe there is a bad sector, but, of
course, that is just a guess, I don't have any real evidence. I wonder if it
could be due to outdated architecture.)

Maybe Hardy will install from a cd install, but my cd drive broke.
That is why I want to try a usb flash drive.
Furthermore, I think there might even be a better chance if I use
ubuntu light with the Icewm. I just want to use ice because it think
that the snappy factor is the primary feature to look for, and I can
load whatever I want in the future.

Thanks

ssh the best way to do that? I also noticed that there is a remote desktop tool in the

system preferences menu. Should I ssh his computer, and then use the remote desktop

tool, or is there as better and more secure way of doing
