Replying to my own post to cap the thread: thanks everyone.  

Did anyone notice anything historical in the subject I picked for this 
thread:  I'm old enough to remember the tv show "The 64,000 dollar 
question" and also the radio show, "The 64 dollar question".  So I 
thought that "64bit question" was the right way to ask <smile>.

Now there's a "should I use latest Ubuntu at all question.  I'll re-open 
the old thread to ask it to try to keep the subjects and thread 
contents rationally connected for search engines.
